Like last year, Allan and I went to the stake's Valentines Day dance. It was fabulous. It was a night at the movies. They had yummy food, awesome entertainment, and we heard that the desert was awesome. We missed it. So sad.
Before the dance, we dropped the kids off at my moms house for an overnighter. Allan's cousin, Sarah, got married, so we went to her reception, and then went straight to the dance. As we walked up to the church, we saw a red carpet and, 2 men, I think they were bouncers. HA! They were pretty funny.
Next to them, was an old beat up truck that was supposed to be the limo, or lack of.
We walked up the red carpet, and they had these amazing cut outs from movies and movie memorabilia. Allan decided to act like a Chinese girl at a red carpet event. It was slightly embarrassing, but really funny too. When we walked in the cultural hall, we both felt like we were the nerds in high school all over again. There were hundreds of people there (I could be exaggerating, but who knows?) and absolutely nowhere to sit. So instead of looking like idiot wandering around, we stayed in true Rogers' fashion, and went straight for the food. Allan almost pee'd himself when he saw the shrimp. When we walked by the desert table, there was TONS of desert left, so we didn't grab anything.
Well, the humiliating part came. We stood in a corner, next to the trash cans and ate our food. HA! For some reason, we were totally embarrassed by this.........but there was no where to sit! So we quickly ate the chicken and rice stuff (that was totally awesome!!) and decided to go get desert. IT WAS GONE! We were so sad. It looked so yummy. All that was left were a bunch of sad looking strawberries.
We disappointedly walked away from the desert station and passed by Josh Chesnik who was getting his freak on with an older woman. A much older woman. Hmmmm. She seemed like she was having the best night ever with a hunky guy, and he seemed slightly uncomfortable and wanted to get out of there, HA! But I could be wrong, just going by the look on his face.
After the Chesnik affair, we found Leah and Kaid Whipple, sitting in the corner, next to the drinks (good choice). I couldn't help myself. I walked over to Kaid and told him, "Nobody puts baby in a corner". We all got a good laugh out of that.
(I really really love popcorn)
It was a fantastic Valentines Day. And just like last year, my husband is amazing, and wonderful and sweet and the smartest man on the planet. I love him with all of my heart. He makes me light up. Whenever he walks into a room, I can actually feel my face light up. I love him more than anything............even my car, but maybe not more than popcorn. It's a tie........maybe.
I love my valentine
