Biker Babe

Today, I decided to try and teach Sarah how to ride her first big girl bike.......with training wheels of course. I mean really, the girl can't even walk straight, without running into something. I'm not about to throw her on a bike without training wheels!

I had a minor mishap with all of the tires on the tailors that go on the back of our bikes, so instead, I put the boys in our wagon and walked next to her, toting the boys. She couldn't quite get the hang of the brakes, peddling AND steering, but she finally got the hang of doing 2 of 3 of the tasks simultaneously. Put them in any order you want, she tried it all at the same time, HA!

I had her walk her bike down the driveway, so as not to have a squished girl. She got on her bike, and tried to push the pedal forward.......with no luck. You know when the bike peddle gets at a certain point and you can't make it go forward. She had that a lot today. So I tried to teach her to push off and go. She sort of has it now. She rode her bike, down Abbeyville, to White, up to Placerville, down Placerville, til it met Abbeyville and back home. We only almost got hit by a car 2 times! HORRAY! That's success for this neighborhood.

She was so excited, because as she was riding home, we saw daddy pulling up to the house for lunch, so she tried as hard as she could to ride fast to him. She did. Instead of her riding at my walking speed (and that was fat for her), she was more at a "missionary walk" speed. Boy she was flyin.

The rest of the day was not that fantastic, but this hour of teaching her stuff, and the boys thinking she was a rock star, that was definitely fantastic. For that hour today, I was happy to be her mom. The rest of the day was questionable. HA! Maybe we'll try again tomorrow and it'll be even better.
