Pictures to Remember, 2

Here are some more pictures that I love, and the story behind them:

September 14, 2005

This is a picture of me, in labor with Sarah, and Allan trying not to be tired. He didn't get off of work at the Paris until midnight, so my mama was there with my, while I was being induced, until he got there. She stayed for the whole thing anyways. This picture, again, is not important, for the obvious reasons. It's because this is one of the few moments in my labor with Sarah, that I actually remember. HA! I was so doped up, with everything, including sleeping pills, that I don't remember anything. After this moment, the next thing I remember is looking down and my legs are up in stirrups, and I looked at the doc and said, "Holy crap! There's a head sticking out of me." Gross, I know, but seriously, that was the funniest labor I have ever seen. Everyone thought I was a crack up. Wish I could remember what else I said, so I could write that down too.

This picture is right after I had Sarah. Allan had Sarah and was taking pictures with everyone and her. He was so excited. They had to remind him to give the baby to her mommy! This is our first picture as a little family unit. It is my favorite picture.

If you know Sarah, she is very vain. She LOVES looking at herself in the mirror, changes her clothes about 40 times a day, and does her hair constantly. I didn't realize what I was dealing with then. Every time I would put her on the ground, in her room, she would crawl towards the mirror and just love on herself.

When Allan was working all of the time, TC used to come over quite a bit and keep me company and play with Sarah. I always joked that he was husband #2 in our marriage. He really did a lot for me, and it meant the world. I couldn't have gotten through that time in our lives without him. It would've been so difficult and lonely.

This is a picture of Kendal Wilcox and Sarah. What's special about this picture is, this is their second play date, and we all thought it was so neat that they actually play together and interact together. Today, they are the best of friends, still. I have never seen 2 kids play so well together and just love each other as much as these 2 girls do.

This would be the picture of Sarah's first Sack of Potato's. Allan's dad made up this funny song, for when he put the kids to bed. When it was bed time, each kid had their turn being scooped up, flung over their dad's shoulders, hanging upside down, and he would swing them back and forth, as he walked down the hall, singing the Sack of Potato's song, in he deep deep voice. Allan still continues this tradition, and the kids LOVE it.

This is when we took our first family trip somewhere other than St. George. Allan had to go out of town on business, and they said we could go, if we paid for our own flights. So to San Francisco we all went. Sarah was a dream on the flight there, and the whole first day we were there. Then, we woke up at 3:00am, to Sarah whining and her face completely red. I felt her and she was HOT. Being the awesome mom that I am, I had a thermometer, so I took her temp, which came out 105.6! I didn't know what to do. That's insanely high. So I called my mom back in Las Vegas, and woke her up. I figured, she's a paramedic, she'll know what to do. So she told me to put her in a luke warm bath, and then proceeded to tell me what a fever seizure looked like, just in case. AAAHH! I bawled. I didn't want to know that. She also told me to call down to the front desk and ask them for the number to the hospital, to talk to a nurse in the ER, to see if she might need to go in, and then what medicines to give her to get her fever to break hopefully. So.........I call the front desk idiot. I ask him if he knows the number to the hospital, while Allan was giving her a bath. He said, "Um, 911". Sheesh. So I said, "No, not for an ambulance, for the actual hospital, like the ER." He said, no joke, "I think the ER closes at 9pm, ma'am." Idiot. So I hung up on him. I gave her some Motrin, and then some Tylenol a little while later. This is her zonked out on me. She was so hot I couldn't handle all of the clothes on me, so tank top it was. She woke up the next morning, at about 9a, and she was perfectly fine again. It was the weirdest and scariest night we've had in a long time.

This is TC and Sarah in the hammock in TC's back yard on Easter Sunday. We always had Easter at TC's house. He would BBQ steaks and make a huge dinner for us all. It was one of our funnest memories. Now, though, Easter just seems lacking. We now all scramble to come up with other things to do on Easter, to make it a little bit easier, knowing we won't be going to his house on Easter. I love how much he loves Sarah. They are little buddies. I know he still watches over her.

That first picture is so sad to me--and so representative of the amazing struggle to have children. I am glad you weren't aware of it! LOL! Sarah was such a cute, if vain, baby:).

I love those pics. Such good memories. It's hard to remember when Sarah and Kendal were that small.
